Does batana oil actually grow hair? Scalp health & length retention

The quick answer
There are no studies proving batana oil grows new hair. What it does is help protect the hair shaft from breakage, soften dry damaged lengths and hydrate the scalp. Less breakage means you keep more of the length you grow, which is where most 'before and after' results come from.
Growth vs length retention
Your hair grows from the follicle no matter what. But if the ends keep snapping, it never seems longer. Length retention means keeping that growth, and that's where oils shine.
How batana helps
Batana is rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids, carotenoids and tocotrienols (a form of vitamin E). On hair, that means:
- ✿Coats the hair shaft so it's less prone to breakage and friction
- ✿Softens dry, brittle lengths so they snap less
- ✿Hydrates a dry-feeling scalp during massage
- ✿Adds shine, so hair looks fuller and healthier
What about thinning edges?
Edges are delicate and often thin from tight styles, rough brushing and dryness. Gentle oil massages, looser styles and a satin bonnet give them the best chance to stay healthy.
In our blend, rosemary and peppermint add a fresh, tingly scalp feel. One study found rosemary oil performed similarly to 2% minoxidil after 6 months, and peppermint oil showed hair-growth effects in mice. Those studies weren't on batana, and they don't promise results for everyone.
Real talk on 'before and after' pics
Lighting, styling and time all play a part. Be patient: give any routine at least 8–12 weeks. Sudden or patchy hair loss deserves a doctor's visit.
Real talk 💬
We'll never promise regrowth. What we can say: a happier scalp and less breakage means you keep more of the length you grow.
Myth vs fact 🕵️
Myth ✕
Batana grows hair overnight.
Fact ✓
No oil does that. Hair grows about 1 cm a month, give or take.
Myth ✕
More oil = faster results.
Fact ✓
A few drops, used consistently, beats a soaking once a month.
Myth ✕
Length retention and growth are the same.
Fact ✓
Growth happens at the root. Retention is about stopping breakage at the ends.
Your hair-type cheat sheet
Curly & coily 🌀
Go generous on lengths and ends, then seal in moisture after your leave-in.
Straight & fine 🪶
3–4 drops, scalp and mid-lengths only, and wash out well so roots stay bouncy.
Thick & wavy 🌊
Section first so the oil actually reaches the middle layers.
Colour-treated 🎨
Use it as a pre-wash mask to cushion lengths before shampoo.
Quick FAQs ✿
How long until I notice a difference?+
Most people notice softness right away. For length, track it with photos every 4 weeks.
Can it help with hair loss?+
We don't make medical claims. Sudden or heavy shedding is worth a chat with a doctor.
Should I trim while trying to grow?+
Yes, tiny trims stop split ends from travelling up the strand.
Quick tips
- ✿ Snap a progress photo every 4 weeks in the same light.
- ✿ Trim split ends so breakage doesn't travel up.
- ✿ Go easy on tight ponytails over your edges.
